The AFTA Share Program
The AFTA Share Program
There’s just no doubt about it: The arts are an indispensable part of any well-rounded education. Now more than ever, an extended community of parents, educators, businesses, organizations, artists and others must explore creative new ways to ensure that arts programs continue to thrive in our schools and enrich the lives of our children.
Many of us care deeply about this important issue, yet the most common question is, “What can I do to help?” Now, Artists for the Arts (AFTA) has the answer. A non-profit organization that raises funding and awareness for arts education in Portland Metro-area schools, AFTA has designed an innovative program that makes it easy to be part of the solution – by simply focusing on what you do best.
Giving Made Easy
AFTA’s Share Program allows participants to direct a percentage of the proceeds from their already-planned events, arts sales and other activities to support arts in the classroom. Money raised by the program goes directly into the AFTA Grant Program, which provides funding annually for educator-designed programs for grades K – 12 in disciplines such as performing, visual and literary arts.
What Kinds of Activities Qualify
Our community partners generate contributions for the Share Program in a variety of ways. The only limit is your own imagination, but some examples include:
- Art sales
- Gallery openings
- CD release parties

- Concert/theatre ticket sales
- Raffles
